SOUNDSCAPE 05 / DOWNTEMPO LO-FI
The blue-hour platform
A pause between leaving and arriving.

THE STORY BEHIND THE SOUND
The number on the departure screen changes again. Your train is still delayed. You carry the bag to the far end of a bench while an announcement travels beneath the roof, sounding more distant than usual. An overfilled itinerary has suddenly loosened by fifteen minutes, but your body still holds the posture of being late. Your fingers keep waking the same train information on the phone.
A blue lamp in the waiting room makes the reflections in the glass look pale. The melody takes its time: the bass walks a few steps before a short phrase settles into the space it leaves. You put the bag beside your feet and properly look outside for the first time. Across the tracks, someone cleans a railing with an old cloth, moving forward a little after each section.
An older passenger with flowers sits at the other end of the bench. Rather than check the screen, they refold the paper around the bouquet. You do not know whom they are visiting or whether the delay matters to them. Yet the patient movement of their hands makes waiting seem less like time taken away and more like another chance to put something gently in order.
When the arrival light comes on, the sky has turned from blue to gray. You stand and check the seat for anything left behind. This time you do not immediately switch off the music. Its slower rhythm follows you through the gate until the train doors open. At last you are leaving, and the wait has become a small part of the journey too.
